C. Thayer Kern

General Manager

Thayer is a ten year veteran of the club industry, having worked at some of the finest private clubs in South Florida. These include Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club, Ibis Golf & Country Club and Frenchman‚Äôs Creek Beach & Country Club. Thayer is a native of Denver, Colorado and a graduate of Metropolitan State University. He holds a Sommelier Certification and CMAA, BMI certification from UNLV School of Hospitality.

Membership Relations Manager

Erin has been in the private club industry for more than 10 years and has a Recreation Management Degree from Florida State University.  She was most recently the community events manager at Nocatee.  She brings a wealth of knowledge and looks forward to building relationships with the Members.

Executive Chef

Chef Pickren began his career in 2003 at the Verandah Seafood Restaurant at the Omni Amelia Island, then the resort kitchen for Amelia Island Plantation and returned to the Omni in 2010 as Executive Sous Chef. Chef Pickren also held positions at Turtle Point at the 5-Star Kiawah Island Golf Resort, Florida Yacht Club, and most recently Executive Chef of the Casa Monica Hotel. Chef Pickren received his Associates Degree from Le Cordon Bleu at the Orlando Culinary Academy while working at Todd English's Blue Zoo in the Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin Hotel. Chef Pickren is a South Georgia native who enjoys cooking the food of the American South that tells the story of its locale. He is supported by his wife Kristin and son, Camden.

Darren Angle

Gym and Beach Rentals Manager

Darren Angle,a native of St. Louis, relocated to Jacksonville in 1989 after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.  Darren brings over 15 years of supervisor/management experience from such companies as Comcast, State Farm and the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club.  Darren joins us from PVIC where he has served as Gym Supervisor since 2014 and has been part of The Gate Petroleum family for the past 7 years.  In his spare time, Darren enjoys attending local sporting and entertainment events with his wife and son.

James Paul

Food & Beverage Director

James began his hospitality career at the Arizona Biltmore and worked his way up into a management role. After working for both branded and independent resorts, James finds himself here at The Lodge & Club. James moved here with his wife, Catherine, two yellow labs, and five cats.

Previously a Jacksonville resident, Peace has happily returned home. She is thrilled to bring her enthusiasm and industry experiences to The Lodge & Club. The goal of this new position is to be your direct point of contact, should you have any event planning needs. We have so much to celebrate in our life: weddings, graduations, milestones, holiday parties, and business functions. Celebrate them with us at The Lodge & Club!
